The Village of Akindege

Akindege is an extremely poor village that we hope to improve by providing scholarships to the children who live there. We believe that education is a means to community development. Education empowers children and gives them the opportunity to change and improve their village and community.  With an education the children have the chance to start businesses or improve upon existing ones and create jobs in Akindege.

The village consists of 2,163 people, with more than 50% of them jobless. There are varying family structures, with multiple child-headed households, as well as families with one parent and both parents. Akindege is located near a military base, which can cause problems for the villagers.

We are partnering with an organization called A Voice For Rwanda, which is based in Akindege for the purpose of serving the people who live there. The village leaders are also assisting us in offering the scholarships to the children.
